The Ghana Education Service(GES) under the auspices of the Ministry of Education(MoE) has released the academic calendar for basic schools across the country. Indicated below is the proposed academic calendar for both primary and JHS departments.

KG and Primary will have a different system from JHS

Trimester System

Term 1

a. School days: January 25-April 16

b. 62 working days

c. 5 public holidays

d. 14weeks

e. Vacation: April 17- May 3

Term 2

a. School days: May 4-August 6

b. 66 working days

c. 3 public holidays

d. 14weeks

e. Vacation: August 7-September 5

Term 3

a. School days: September.6-December 10

b. 68 working days

c. 2 public holidays

d. 14weeks

e. Vacation: Dec 11- January...

 Semester system

1st Semester

a. School days: January 18-June 11

b. 100 working days

c. 7 public holidays

d. 25 weeks

e. Mid Semester: March 15-19

f. Vacation: June 12-July 5

2nd Semester

a. School days: July 6 -December 10

b. ✓110 working days( for JHS 1&2 )

    ✓ 81days for JHS 3  

         ( BECE will be in November)

c. 4 public holidays

d. 23 weeks (for JHS 1&2)

e. Mid Semester: Sept. 6-11

f. Vacation: December 11- January...
