The Professional Board of the Institute of Education, University of Cape Coast at its Second Regular (2020/2021 academic year) meeting held of Friday, 10th December, 2021 considered and approved the examination fees for the 2021/2022 academic year. A lot of eyebrows have been raised by level 400 trainees who, according to the approved fees are to pay an amount totalling GHC370 as their examination fees for the teaching practice. To them, this is utterly unacceptable since no examination whatsoever was written to merit any printing of examination sheets. According to these trainees, UCC and its board are finding ways to drain them off their money as they are being forced to pay a non-existent fee.
It was later disclosed that, the GHC370 cedis, billed to payed by level 400 trainees for their first semester exams fees was to cater for cost of their teaching practice- its supervision, monitoring and evaluation and their Project work. Supervisors had to be paid to supervise their teaching practice and workshops were organized to keep tutors abreast with the rudimentary practices of the OUT programme and the project work. To them(UCC), examination does not always merit printing sheets and as such the need for these trainees to pay the billed amount in kind. Follow ups on this issue will be closely monitored by THE BASE to keep trainees informed.
