THE BASE, through this missive clarifies the baffling question on the lips and minds of teacher trainees in the various colleges of education across the country. This confusion stems from the release of funds by the Education Ministry and thus the government of Ghana, allocated to settling the feeding component deficit of the various colleges of education. The 67 million Ghanaian Cedis fund released by the Ministry of Education has sparked a wave of perplexities and confusions amongst trainees as to whether this fund covers just the feeding component of their monthly stipend or the total amount of monthly allowances due them.
THE BASE can confirm that, the 67 million Cedis released by the Ministry covers the entire allowances of trainees and that they should therefore expect messages from the Student Loan Trust Fund(SLTF) confirming the payment of their monthly allowances. The exact months this released fund will cover is still unknown but be rest assured that when any information regarding this is available,we will gladly keep you informed. This confirmation rides on the back of a statement made by the director of GTEC, Prof. Salifu Mohammed, who made it clear that the feeding component is just an embedded component of the trainee allowances hence, the entire funds released are not just for the feeding component but the full trainee allowances. The president of the mouthpiece of teacher trainees, TTAG, H.E Jonathan Dzunu also affirms this assertion.
In light of this, trainees should anticipate messages of the payment of their allowances very soon. The image below is a further clarification
