One major headache of teachers in Ghana is writing bulky lesson notes while the country is gradually gearing into the digital setting. These teachers employed under the Ghana Education Service do not see the need to pen down bulky lesson notes which were already digitally available to be referenced. This headache however has been relieved with the introduction of the TM1 LAPTOP PROJECT being carried out nationwide. After the introduction of the the ONE TEACHER ONE LAPTOP POLICY for Pre-Tertiary School Teachers, teachers are confused over the writing or preparation of lesson notes since it was declared by the Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia that Teachers will no longer write lesson notes because the Lesson Notes Software will be incorporated into the system of the TM1 LAPTOPS. This aside, some District Directors, School Improvement Support Officers (SISOs), Head Teachers have been on the necks of Basic School Teachers forcing them to write lesson notes. This confusion was cleared when the Minister of Education was speaking on the STEM Education on Wontumi TV in Kumasi, he said the following statements:
Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum disclosed that writing of Lesson Notes is a thing of the past. He said this in an interview with Wontumi TV. He again said that Teachers will not longer write lesson notes due to the introduction of laptops for teachers. When speaking on the Topic: (STEM) Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics on the Kumasi based Radio, he said that the introduction of Professional Development has replaced the writing of Lesson Notes. He explained further saying, that the writing of Lesson Notes is no longer compulsory or forceful on teachers because they (teachers) keep on copying the previous (written years ago) contents into their new lesson note books without any additions.
It is therefore to note that, if you are a Headteacher or a Teacher, writing of Lesson Notes are no longer compulsory, however, if you wish to write, you are at a free-will to do so.
