GES ACADEMIC CALENDAR FOR JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS (JHS) AND PRIMARY SCHOOLS-MIDTERM /HOLIDAYS

KG & PRIMARY DEPARTMENT

The KG and Primary Schools continue to run the trimester academic calendar system. According to the GES calendar, the KG, Lower Primary, and Upper primary have a different calendar from that of the JHS. Study the KG and Primary calendar below:

TERM ONE

a. School Days: January 18-April 16 2021

b. It has 62 working days in total with 5 public holidays

d. It is overly made up of 14weeks

e. Vacation: April 17-May 3 2021

TERM TWO

a. School Resumes from May 4-August 6 2021

b. It has 66 working days with 3 public holidays

c. In total, there are 14weeks

d. Vacation: August 7-September 5 2021

TERM THREE

School resumes on: September 6-December 10, 2021

The term entails 68 working days with 2 public holidays.

It has a total of 14 weeks.

Vacation commences on December 11- January(to be decided)

JHS DEPARTMENT

The JHS currently run the semester system

FIRST SEMESTER

a. School Days: January 18-June 11 2021

b. 100 working days with 7 public holidays. It has 25 weeks

c. Midterm: March 15- March 19 2021

d. Vacation: June 12-July 5 2021

SECOND SEMESTER

The second semester starts from July 6 -December 10 2021 with 110 working days( for JHS 1&2 ) and 81days for JHS 3. The Basic Education Certificate Examination ( BECE ) commences from Monday 15th November 2021 to Friday 19th November 2021. There are 4 public holidays with 23 weeks (for JHS 1&2). All Junior High Schools will go for Midterm break from September 6 to September 10, 2021. Schools will go for Christmas break on December 11- January (Yet to be decided
